The City of Norfolk is very proactive about collecting data for rainfall and flooding in the area. Norfolk is very prone to flooding and rising water levels, so as pictured, the drought monitor typically does not have much to report.

On the other hand, as pictured, the city of Norfolk does get a decent amount of rain. Without the proper infrastructure, increase in impermeable materials, and lack of green spaces, the risk of flooding is a worrying factor for residents.

As referenced in the above photo, the DCR provides a very detailed report on flood risk in Virginia areas. The red squares are homes at a high risk of flooding, orange moderate, and green have little risk. The larger red and orange blocks indicate the same information for the land. The large blue blooks indicate coastal flooding risks in the area.
